Groundwater Monitoring & Sampling

If we have identified a fuel leak from an underground storage tank system, one of the first steps in our groundwater remediation process is to install monitoring wells to determine the lateral or vertical extent that the contaminants have traveled in the groundwater. Once groundwater monitoring wells have been installed, we collect samples of the groundwater for laboratory analysis and determine the next course of action. Groundwater sampling is conducted to provide a snap-shop of the hydrogeologic and chemical conditions at a monitoring site. Data obtained through the sampling can pGroundwaterrovide better insight into the nature and extent of contamination and the remediation that should follow. To obtain accurate samples, the sampling frequency, method and location are carefully considered by the Georgia Oilmen’s Services (GOS) team.

Groundwater Sampling

Groundwater sampling is conducted to provide a snap-shop of the hydrogeologic and chemical conditions at a monitoring site. Data obtained through groundwater testing can provide better insight into the nature and extent of contamination and the remediation that should follow. To obtain accurate samples, the sampling frequency, method and location are carefully considered by the Georgia Oilmen’s Services (GOS) team.

Groundwater Sampling Method

A groundwater sampling plan with GOS includes the following:

  • Appropriate calibration of sampling and field measurement equipment
  • Proper sampling through site selection, sampling frequency, well purging and sample collection
  • Precautionary sample handling and assessment
